Criminal Defense

Mr. Nixon’s criminal defense practice includes defending those accused of charges primarily in the General Sessions courts of Charleston, Berkeley and Dorchester counties, as well as numerous municipalities: City of Charleston, City of North Charleston, Hanahan, Goose Creek, Moncks Corner, Summerville, Mt. Pleasant, Isle of Palms, Folly Beach and Kiawah Island. His criminal practice includes DUI (Driving Under the Influence), DUAC (Driving with an Unauthorized Alcohol Content), possession, possession with intent to distribute, school proximity and trafficking charges in both State and Federal courts. Mr. Nixon has successfully represented college and graduate students before school disciplinary boards that often accompany charges of underage possession, transfer of alcohol to a minor, drug and noise violations.

In addition to drug, alcohol and DUI charges, Mr. Nixon’s trial experience includes successfully defending those accused of violent crimes. In May 2008, he tried a Murder, Armed Robbery and Criminal Conspiracy case to a hung jury. His client was later found not guilty of murder in a second trial during which Mr. Nixon represented him.
